A Case in Point
A large British manufacturing facility has six industrial heaters that
must be individually controlled for a plastic thermoforming operation.
A complete unit consisting of six controllers with the appropriate inputs
and outputs is required.
Problem
The heaters are located in a remote location of the factory with no
space for bulky cabinets or rack mounted panels. The process engineer in
charge of the molding operation wants to purchase a pre-wired enclosure
small enough to fit on a conveniently located nearby shelf. Because the
enclosure will be portable, it must be rugged for handling in an industrial
environment.
OMEGA Solution
OMEGA's temperature and custom engineering departments
worked together in designing a portable unit to contain six of each of
the following: temperature controllers, rtd input jacks, analog output
terminal screws, input power cord receptacles, output power jacks and finned
heat sinks the solid state relays. The enclosure also features louvered
vents on the top to help dissipate internal heat buildup. All of these
components were designed into a rugged steel enclosure within the customers
space requirements. This pre-wired ready to use system can be carried into
the remote area and all six heaters can now be controlled and monitored
from one central location.
